視網膜的分光結構：神經細胞

脊椎動物的視網膜的感光細胞被神經細胞蓋住，一直是難解的問題。神經膠細胞與其他細胞擁有不同的折射率，可以將紅色及綠色的光線準確導引到相對應的錐細胞上，達成十倍的集光度。藍光則是打散分散在四周。
工程說法就是：視網膜為了提高色彩感光度的工程需求，不僅上面走線，底下放光電元件，中間安插計算元件還自帶分光微透鏡結構的意思。
